teaching
I have taught everything from primary school literacy courses to undergraduate-level courses in the US, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic. These courses include pedagogy courses for English language teachers, linguistic survey courses, and both Spanish and Haitian Creole language courses.

As a teacher of language and linguistics, especially as a teacher of a Less Commonly Taught Language (LCTL), one of the most important things that I want my students to understand is how a language is used outside of the textbook. My pedagogy heavily relies on the use of music, pop culture, and analysis of current events to expand language learning far outside of our classroom. I encourage experiential learning through group meals at restaurants, film screenings and discussions, and museum visits and reflections. Here is a video where my Haitian Creole language students reflect on their engagement with the Haitian community in New Orleans.
